Types of Dentures We Offer

There are two types of dentures, partial and complete. Which one is best for you will depend on how many teeth you have missing and where the gaps are located in your mouth. Dr. Katia Mortazavinia is a dentist at Elite Family Dentistry in Mesa, she ca provide you with partial or complete dentures.

Partial and Complete Dentures

Mesa dental patients have two types of dentures available to them: partial and complete. Traditional partial dentures attach to the natural teeth on either side with a metal clasp. Traditional complete dentures are attached to a removable plastic base. Both partial and complete dentures can also be supported by dental implants that are surgically secured into the jaw.

Complete Dentures

Full removable dentures are comprised of a gum-colored plastic base that supports a complete set of porcelain or plastic teeth. The denture is held in place as it forms a seal between the base and the gums. A more expensive but permanent procedure involves implant surgery. In this case, titanium posts are implanted into the jawbone where, over time, they fuse with the bone. An abutment is added to the post so that one or more prosthetic teeth can be fixed in place.

Partial Dentures

Like complete dentures, partial dentures can be made with a metal framework or a plastic base that supports a number of prosthetic teeth. It is held in place using clasps that are designed to fit around the existing natural teeth.

It can take several weeks for you to adjust to your new dentures. But gradually you will find biting, chewing, and speaking becomes quite natural. You will also adapt to your new at-home oral hygiene routine for caring for your dentures.
